Sahara Grim

Sahara (b.1997, San Diego) is an eclectic musician and songwriter based in Los Angeles who aims to portray our innate human complexities as a portal for transformation through worldly vocals, jazz derived composition, and lyrics containing messages of empowerment.

Her music is initially created as an outlet for healing and is intended to provide listeners with a sense or sanctuary. Sahara establishes a new kind of sound that is technically skillful, yet approachable and unmistakably her own. With influences of Neo-Soul, Folk, and World Music, her music is said to be reminiscent of artists such as Hiatus Kaiyote, Esperanza Spalding, and even Björk.

Before graduating from the Ethnomusicology & Jazz department at UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music in 2019, Sahara and her Band opened for Indie Soul group, The Marias, for a 1500 person audience at Royce Hall. Inspired by nature, spirituality, and her Indian and Japanese roots, Sahara’s celestial sound illuminates who she is, various elements joining together as one.
